Tena Koutou Katoa

I have been married for 40 years and am the mother of five, two of whom have special gifts (we do not use the word disability in our whare). Our eldest has been gifted with skills that allow him to live alone without support and his computer skills surpass mine. My youngest reads, dances, sings and performs on stage.

I was introduced into the Jolt whānau four years ago by our youngest. Since then, he has grown in leaps and bounds.

I am excited about my new position as Māori Liaison for Jolt and to sharing the knowledge that I have with both the Jolt whānau and my own whānau. For what I cannot bring to the tepu (table) I have the knowledge to bring the people who do and with that there is a whakataukī that I’d like to share:

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini

My value is not that of an individual but that of multitude
The combined efforts of many are needed to complete a project
